All three kids woke up at at the same time today. John got Abby situated in the living room with the iPad before he left for work, and I proceeded to take care of the babies in their room. After about five minutes, I heard Abby calling me.
Abby: Mom! Mom! Momma! The iPad isn’t working!
Me: Abby, I’m nursing Gwen.
Abby: Mom! Netflix isn’t working!
Me: (After a long pause because Gwen doesn’t like distractions.) Abby, just restart it, please.
Abby: I tried! It still isn’t working!
Me: I’ll help you when I’m finished here.
Abby: Mom!
Me: Abby, please.
Quiet. After a few minutes, I ask Abby if she still needs help.
Abby: No. I’m okay. I just decided to use Amazon instead. What’s that show with the hamster, duck, and turtle?
Me: Wonder Pets?
Abby: Yes! Wonder Pets!
I then hear the Wonder Pets theme song and a happy [three year old] Abby.

At ten months old (already!), the babies are doing some amazing things. They’re both accomplished crawlers, and can pull themselves up on everything. They’re also both trying to talk. They say “ma” for sure and Gwen seems to say teeth, cat, and cheese. They understand a lot more than they can say. They love pat-a-cake, and will bounce up and down to music. They also love feeding themselves finger foods. Their current favorites are canned vegetables. Potatoes, steak, and blueberries gave us some awesome zzzzs last night. Josie slept until 5am, woke up for some milk, and then went back to sleep until 7:30am! Gwen did great too. She was up at 2am and 6am, and then slept until 7:30am! Amazing!

Even more Abbyisms
A friend of mine asked Abby “how do you tell your sisters apart? They look alike to me.” Abby looked at her with a quizzical face, shrugged her shoulders and said “I look at their faces, of course.”
Abby: Mom, do you have a diamond wedding ring?“
Me: No, Abby. My ring is a sapphire.
Abby: I think I want a diamond ring when I get older.
Last night, we were talking to Abby about moving one day. Abby said she didn’t want to move. "My sisters live here.” We explained that they would come with us too. “Oh, okay,” she decided.

Whilst in the Tub
“Abby, do you need to go to the potty?”
“No way, I was just blowing bubbles with my tush!”

These smiling faces are actually two sick babies. Surprising, right? Lots of pre-emptive pain reliever thankfully kept these girls in happy moods for a surprising amount of the day. Hopefully, our days with Hand Foot Mouth are no worse than this. (And, hopefully, I didn’t just jinx us!)

Still playing
Late last night, I went into Abby’s room to check on her. She was sound asleep, but had kicked off all of her covers. When I replaced her quilt, she rolled over and dreamily said something that sounded like a happy thought about “Josie.” I’m fairly certain they were playing together in her dream. It was a touching moment.
Our little girl really loves playing with her baby sisters. In fact, yesterday evening Abby and Josie spent a good twenty minutes laughing and rough-housing on the pink chair in Abby’s room. I think Josie is Abby’s biggest fan. She already wants to do everything Abby does, and Abby loves to make her laugh. Gwen likes to watch and joins the fun when it looks safe.

Spaghetti
“Mama, thank you for making this delicious dinner.”
Abby then turned to me and whispered, “Daddy, you’re supposed to thank Mama for making this delicious dinner.”
(She proceeded to devour three pieces of garlic bread and a lot of spaghetti.)

We had a really good weekend! John took the day off work on Friday and we all went to Totter Otterville with our neighbor and her grandson. The play area was a bit dated, but it was clean and the kids had a blast. Abby especially liked fishing and playing in the ball pit. Josie liked the dance studio. (Gwen did too, but we weren’t very good at taking pictures.) And, speaking of dance, on Saturday, Abby got her first pairs of tap and ballet shoes. Our house is noisier and even happier as a result. These pictures capture or weekend. Be especially sure to notice the happy babies eating steak!

We all had a lot of fun this afternoon at Woodland Mound Park with our good friends, the Dinsmores. It was so cool to watch Abby master the playground, and to see Gwen and Josie partake in the fun too.

We survived and thrived during our first full week without Grandma Susan! As long as I plan our day ahead of time, and stick to some semblance of a schedule, we seem to do well. This week, we visited the library on Monday, had a playdate at our house on Wednesday, and did crafts at home on Friday. I’m no Martha Stewart (not by a long shot) but Abby enjoyed making pinecone creatures today. And, it turns out that ice cream cones are wonderful substitutions for teething biscuits. It was a good end to a good week, but I’m still very thankful tomorrow is Saturday and John will be home too.

Babies! Babies! Babies! The scene at our house today. Four babies (two sets of nine month old twins) crawling around the kitchen floor hunting for Cheerios. It was a pretty amazing sight.
