Delicious!
I really wish I had taken a picture of my dinner plate. I don’t mean to brag, but dinner tonight was delicious! We had grilled chicken breasts (marinated with lemon, thyme, garlic, and olive oil), cooked carrots, and a wonderful rice pilaf with zucchini, peas, and parmesan.
I was especially pleased with the pilaf. I was inspired by a Martha Stewart recipe. I had planned to modify it, but then couldn’t actually find the recipe when it came time to cook. Thus, I totally winged it, hoped for the best, and the result was yummy! So for future memory, here it is: 1 cup basmati rice (cooked with 2 cups vegetable stock for 20 minutes), diced zucchini and peas added after 10 minutes, and parmesan added at the end. Delicious!

Abby said to me tonight: “I love you more than ice cream.” I feel like a lucky mom.

The 880lb of soil was a challenge, but I’m looking forward to fresh tomatoes and cucumbers.

A fascinating difference
People often ask if we can tell anything yet about the babies’ personalities. Of course, we can, and we certainly witnessed a telling example of the difference tonight.
We all went to the library for their annual volunteer appreciation event. John carried Josie around with him and I had Gwen. Josie smiled at people, and even held out her arms to someone new and went to her to be held. Josie was very happy and outgoing. Gwen, on the other hand, was far more reserved. Her bottom lip started quivering with the first hello from a stranger. She cried more than once when someone got close to say hello. Once we moved to a more secluded area with just her family, she was fine. I joked that as they get older, Abby and Josie will be pulling Gwen out into the world. (Abby was also very outgoing tonight.) We’ll see…

Race cars
While driving home from the grocery store today, Abby started talking about race cars. She informed me that “Papa likes race cars.” I replied that yes, Papa likes to drive fast. Abby replied with “turns out I do too.” Of course, her papa liked that story.

And seconds
As of yesterday morning, both babies have two bottom teeth. Whew! I hope we can take a break from teething for a little while. I like happy babies – and sleep.

Warmer weather is finally here! In fact, it was so nice today (81!) that Abby suggested we get out her pool. She had the best time. Me too. I love being home to enjoy beautiful days like this with our girls!
