Ah, what a good day today turned out to be! I mostly wrote the day off this morning since I knew Gwen and Josie would get their eighteen month shots today, but, apparently, they’re troopers! After their afternoon naps, we took a nice long walk to get ice cream. Then after dinner, my helpers assisted me with turning over the garden bed while Papa mowed the grass. They even had a good time on the swings.

Don’t let the serious look fool you. She was having lots of fun. Again and again and again…

Breakfast
While eating my cereal this morning, I offered to share some with Josie and Gwen. They both said “no” — their favorite word these days. I then asked Josie if she could say the word cereal. “Yes,” she replied with a big smile. She didn’t say the word cereal though. I asked Gwen if she could say cereal. “Ya,” she said. She didn’t say cereal either. I laughed and went back to eating my breakfast. Minutes later, Josie looked at me, smiled, and said “cereal.” Yep, as Abby would say, they were teasing me.

Kick! Kick!
While Abby was at dance class tonight, the rest of us went for a walk around the park. Josie was delighted to see a soccer team practicing and spent several minutes watching them, swinging her leg, and saying “kick!”

The babies were transfixed by the activities on our street today.

We had a fun morning at the Zoo today. Abby, the frequent Zoo adventurer, was our tour guide. This was our first trip this spring and the babies are now old enough to be excited by the animals. They really liked watching the giraffes, cheetah, penguins, and polar bears. They were also quite fond of the goats. They don’t care for dogs, but they’re more than happy to brush goats.

After reading books and feeding them bottles of milk, I tell Gwen and Josie that it’s time to go to bed. They race to their closet and do this.

The girls and I took a walk to the park this afternoon. It was a good thing that John met us there with the van after work because they wore themselves out! I’m amazed by how far they can walk (all the way around the ½ mile path at Freedom Park) and how fearless they are on the play structures.

The dancers at Tunes and Blooms. Notice Abby dancing with one of her many new dance partner friends.

We had a blast at Tunes and Blooms this evening! We first enjoyed a picnic dinner and lots of exploring by the reptile house. When the music started, we cut through the crowd to join the other youngsters in the “mosh pit.” Our girls loved dancing, and were surprisingly not shy around all the strangers.

Bubbles! The girls had lots of fun with bubbles today, especially Gwen. She just squeals with delight.

On this rainy day, our word of the day was definitely dough. The girls played with playdoh, we made cookie dough, and Abby earned some dough by helping to put away the dishes.

Yes, they’re sisters, but not identical, we often say. Even our walks illustrate that point. Josie likes to lean forward in the stroller, point at things, and excitedly tell me what she sees. “Dog! Car!” She only has words for a few things, but she tries. I fill in the rest. (Look Josie! A mailbox!) Gwen likes to recline and suck on her pacifier. She lets the world come to her.
